Your booking confirmation is the reference your driver works from, so it is worth checking the moment it arrives: names, flight number, date, addresses, passengers, luggage and vehicle. If anything is wrong, correcting it days before travel is easy; correcting it at the airport is not. Every booking with AirportsTransfers.ch is confirmed by email straight after payment, with a contact number for the day.
- Booking reference: the number to quote for any question or change
- Journey details: date, time or flight number, pick-up and drop-off addresses
- Party details: lead passenger's name, passengers, children and seats
- Luggage and vehicle: suitcases, skis, bulky items and the vehicle booked
- Contact: phone and WhatsApp number, available 24/7
What the confirmation contains
A transfer confirmation summarises everything agreed at booking. At the top is a booking reference, which identifies your reservation quickly if you need to call. Below it are the journey details: the date, the pick-up time for departures or the flight number and expected arrival time for airport collections, and the full pick-up and drop-off addresses. The confirmation lists the name of the lead passenger, the number of adults and children, any child seats requested, the number of suitcases and bulky items such as skis, and the vehicle category, from a Mercedes E-Class to a Sprinter minibus. Finally, it shows the amount paid and the contact details for the day of travel.
Details to verify straight away
Start with the flight number. A single wrong digit means the driver tracks the wrong aircraft, and the pick-up may not follow your real landing time. Check the airline code as well as the number; for codeshare flights, the operating airline's number on your boarding pass is the safest one to give. Next, check the date. Overnight flights are a common trap: if you leave London late on Friday but land in Geneva after midnight, your pick-up date is Saturday.
Then look at the names and addresses. The lead passenger's name appears on the driver's sign, so make sure it is spelled the way you will recognise it. For drop-offs in ski resorts, check that the chalet or building name and the village are correct; several resorts have hamlets with similar names. If you are travelling to Zermatt, remember that the road journey ends at Täsch, from where a shuttle train continues to the car-free village.
Passengers, luggage and vehicle
Make sure the passenger count includes everyone, children and babies too, and that the number and type of child seats match your children's ages. Compare the luggage count with what you will actually bring, including ski bags, boot bags, pushchairs and hand luggage. If you have added a snowboard or a guest since booking, the vehicle may need to change. As a reminder, an E-Class takes up to three passengers and three bags, while a V-Class takes up to seven passengers and ten bags with skis. A Sprinter suits larger groups.
What to have ready on arrival
Keep the confirmation accessible on your phone, ideally saved offline in case you have no data on landing. Save the contact number in your phone in advance, and check that you can use WhatsApp or make calls abroad. When you land, switch your phone on and read any message from the driver. If you are delayed inside the terminal, for example by passport control or ski bags, send a short update. There is nothing to pay on arrival, as the fixed price was settled online.
If someone else booked the transfer for you, such as a colleague or a family member, ask them to forward the confirmation so you have the reference and contact number yourself.
If something needs changing
Contact the transfer company as soon as you spot an error or your plans change, quoting your booking reference. Typical changes include a new flight number, an extra passenger, more luggage or a different drop-off address. Read the booking terms for how changes and cancellations are handled, and make sure you receive an updated confirmation once the amendment is made, so the driver and you are working from the same information.
