Long-distance transfers

A long-distance transfer with AirportsTransfers.ch is a private car with chauffeur that drives you from Geneva to another city, region or country without changing trains or flights. It suits travellers with luggage, families and business clients who want to work on the way. You book online, see the fixed price per vehicle and pay securely before departure.

Long-distance transfers in Geneva – private chauffeur in a Mercedes

Door to door, across borders

Your chauffeur collects you at Geneva Airport, your hotel or your home and drives you directly to your destination address, wherever it is in our coverage area. There are no connections to catch, no heavy luggage to carry through stations and no timetable to follow. You set the departure time and can ask for short breaks along the way.

For airport arrivals we track your flight, and the waiting is included if it is late. For departures from a city, the chauffeur arrives at the agreed time and takes the most suitable route at that time of day.

What is included

  • A fixed price per vehicle, calculated on the distance and the vehicle class
  • Tolls, motorway vignettes and fuel
  • Comfort stops on request during the journey
  • Room for luggage within the vehicle's capacity, and skis if declared
  • Child seats on request

Typical long-distance routes

Within Switzerland, frequent destinations from Geneva include Bern, Basel, Lucerne, Zurich, Lugano, Interlaken and Sion. In France, we drive to Lyon, Grenoble, Chambéry, Dijon, Annecy and Besançon, and further to the Côte d'Azur with Nice, Cannes and Monaco, or north to Paris and Strasbourg. In Italy, clients travel to Turin, Milan, Aosta, Lake Como with Bellagio and Cernobbio, Lake Maggiore with Stresa, and further to Verona, Venice, Bologna or Florence. In Germany, we cover cities such as Freiburg im Breisgau, Stuttgart, Munich, Frankfurt am Main and Baden-Baden. In total the list includes 418 destinations, so most journeys in the region can be booked online with an instant price.

Long-distance transfers are also used to reach another airport when a flight is cancelled or rerouted, for example Zurich, Lyon Saint-Exupéry, Milan Malpensa or Basel-Mulhouse.

On a long journey, comfort matters. The Business Sedan (Mercedes E-Class) suits up to 3 passengers and 3 bags, and the First Class Sedan (Mercedes S-Class) gives more legroom and quiet in the rear for those who want to rest or work. Families and small groups travel more easily in the Van (Mercedes V-Class), with up to 7 seats and 10 bags, while the Minibus (Mercedes Sprinter) takes larger groups with their luggage.

How to book and pay

Enter your pick-up point, destination, date and time, then choose between the Business Sedan, the First Class Sedan, the Van or the Minibus. The fixed price for the whole vehicle is shown before payment. You pay online through a secure Stripe checkout by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay and receive a confirmation by email. If your destination does not appear in the list, contact AirportsTransfers.ch by phone or WhatsApp at +41 78 346 56 77 or by email at contact@airportstransfers.ch for a quote.

Long-distance transfers: questions and answers

45 questions answered

Which cities can I reach from Geneva?
Our list covers 418 destinations in Switzerland, France, Italy and Germany, including Zurich, Bern, Lyon, Paris, Milan, Turin, Munich and Frankfurt.
Are tolls included in the price?
Yes. Tolls, motorway vignettes and fuel are included in the fixed price shown before payment.
Can we stop on the way?
Yes. Short comfort stops are possible on request. Tell your chauffeur at the start of the journey.
Is a long transfer worth it compared with the train?
For several passengers with luggage, the price per vehicle often compares well, and you travel door to door without changes.
My destination is not listed. Can you still drive me?
Usually yes. Contact AirportsTransfers.ch by phone, WhatsApp or email and we will send you a price for your route.
Booking and payment8
How is the fixed price for a long-distance transfer calculated?
The price is based on the distance and the vehicle class. It covers the journey from the pick-up address to your destination, including tolls, motorway vignettes and fuel, and is shown in full before you pay.
Is the price per passenger on a long-distance transfer?
No. The price is per vehicle. Up to 3 passengers in a Business Sedan or up to 7 in a Van pay the same price for the same vehicle and route, which makes long journeys good value for families and colleagues.
Do I pay extra for border crossings or tunnels?
No. Tolls, including tunnel tolls such as the Mont Blanc or Great St Bernard tunnels when used, are included in the fixed price per vehicle. AirportsTransfers.ch does not ask you to pay tolls during the journey.
Is the price higher if there is heavy traffic on the way?
No. The fixed price shown before payment does not change because of traffic jams, roadworks or weather. You pay the price agreed online for the journey you booked.
How do I pay for a long-distance transfer?
Payment is made online in advance through a secure Stripe checkout, by credit or debit card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. You receive an email confirmation with all the details of your journey.
Can I book a return long-distance transfer on a different day?
Yes. Book the outward and return journeys as two transfers with their own dates and times. Both appear in your confirmation, so the return is secured before you leave Geneva.
What if I need to cancel a long-distance transfer?
Cancellation depends on the time remaining before pick-up. Please see the conditions shown at booking, and contact us by email or phone as soon as your plans change.
Can my company receive an invoice for a long-distance trip?
Yes. Enter your company name and billing details on the booking form to receive an invoice. This is useful when a long-distance transfer replaces a flight or train for a business trip.
How it works8
How does a long-distance transfer from Geneva work?
You book online with the pick-up address or flight, the destination address, passengers and luggage, then pay the fixed price per vehicle. The chauffeur collects you at the agreed time and drives you directly to your destination, with breaks on request.
Can a long-distance transfer start somewhere other than Geneva Airport?
Yes. You can start from your hotel, home, office or a train station in Geneva or the region. Enter the exact pick-up address and time when booking, and the chauffeur arrives at your door.
How does the chauffeur plan the route for a long journey?
The chauffeur chooses the most suitable route for the time of day, traffic and weather, usually by motorway. If you prefer a particular route or a scenic road, mention it at booking and we will tell you whether it is practical.
Can I book a long-distance transfer in the reverse direction, towards Geneva?
Yes. Transfers to Geneva from other cities on our list, such as Lyon, Milan or Zurich, work the same way. Enter the starting address and Geneva destination, and the chauffeur collects you at the time you choose.
What happens if my flight is late before a long-distance transfer?
We track your flight and the chauffeur adapts to the real landing time, with the waiting included. The journey then starts when you are ready, and the fixed price stays the same.
Can I work during a long-distance transfer?
Yes. The vehicles are quiet and comfortable enough to read, write and make calls. Many business clients choose the First Class Sedan for long journeys because the rear seats offer more space to work or rest.
How long in advance should I book a long-distance transfer?
Book as early as your plans allow, especially for early departures, weekends and holiday periods. For short-notice journeys, call or message AirportsTransfers.ch on +41 78 346 56 77 to check availability quickly.
Does the same chauffeur drive the whole long-distance journey?
Yes. One chauffeur drives you from the pick-up to your destination in the same vehicle. You do not change cars at the border or along the way, so your luggage stays in the boot from start to finish.
What's included6
What is included in a long-distance transfer?
The fixed price includes the chauffeur, the vehicle, fuel, tolls and motorway vignettes, comfort stops on request, luggage within the vehicle's capacity, skis if declared, child seats on request, and flight tracking for airport pick-ups.
Are comfort breaks included on a long journey?
Yes. You can ask the chauffeur for short stops for a coffee, the toilets or to stretch your legs. On very long journeys, the chauffeur will also suggest a break at a suitable service area.
Which vehicle is most comfortable for a long-distance transfer?
The First Class Sedan (Mercedes S-Class) offers the most space and comfort in the rear. Families and groups with luggage are usually more comfortable in the Van (Mercedes V-Class), which carries up to 7 passengers and 10 bags.
Is meet and greet included if my long-distance transfer starts at the airport?
Yes. When the transfer starts at Geneva Airport, the chauffeur waits in the arrivals hall with a name sign, helps with your luggage and walks with you to the vehicle before setting off.
Are water or refreshments provided during long journeys?
Please bring what you need for the journey, especially for children. You can also ask the chauffeur to stop at a service area so you can buy drinks or snacks along the way.
Do you drive me to the exact address or to a city centre point?
To the exact address you give. Whether it is a hotel, an office, a private house or a station, the chauffeur drives you to the door, provided the road is open to vehicles.
Typical situations10
Can you drive me from Geneva to Paris by car?
Yes. Paris is on the AirportsTransfers.ch list of long-distance destinations. A private transfer suits travellers with a lot of luggage, families or those who prefer door-to-door travel to the high-speed train with its changes and station transfers.
Do you offer transfers from Geneva to Milan?
Yes. Milan is a frequent long-distance destination, either through the Mont Blanc Tunnel and the Aosta Valley or via the Simplon Pass. The chauffeur chooses the best route according to traffic and season.
Can you take me from Geneva to Lake Como?
Yes. We drive to Lake Como, including Como, Cernobbio and Bellagio, and to Lake Maggiore with Stresa. You travel from your Geneva address straight to your hotel or villa, without changing trains in Milan.
Can I book a transfer from Geneva to Nice, Cannes or Monaco?
Yes. AirportsTransfers.ch drives to the Côte d'Azur, including Nice, Cannes and Monaco. It is a long journey, so comfort stops are planned and the First Class Sedan or Van are the most comfortable choices.
Do you drive from Geneva to Zurich?
Yes. Zurich is one of our most common Swiss long-distance routes, along with Bern, Basel and Lucerne. A private transfer takes you from door to door, which saves carrying luggage through Geneva and Zurich stations.
Can you drive me from Geneva to Lyon?
Yes. AirportsTransfers.ch covers Lyon, a short long-distance route by motorway. We drive to addresses in Lyon and to Lyon Part-Dieu station, and also to nearby cities such as Grenoble, Chambéry and Annecy.
Do you drive from Geneva to German cities?
Yes. Our list includes destinations in Germany such as Freiburg im Breisgau, Stuttgart, Munich and Frankfurt. The chauffeur drives you across the border directly, with your luggage staying in the vehicle all the way.
Can you drive me from Geneva to Lugano or Ticino?
Yes. Lugano and other destinations in Ticino are reached through the Alps. Depending on the season and conditions, the chauffeur chooses the most suitable route, and you can ask for a stop on the way.
Can you drive me from Geneva to Interlaken or the Bernese Oberland?
Yes. Interlaken, Grindelwald and the Bernese Oberland are popular with visitors arriving at Geneva Airport. A private transfer avoids several train changes with suitcases and takes you directly to your hotel.
My train was cancelled. Can you drive me to my destination instead?
Often, yes. Call or send a WhatsApp message to +41 78 346 56 77 with your location and destination, and we check whether a vehicle is available. Once confirmed, you pay online and the chauffeur collects you.
Practical questions8
How much luggage can I take on a long-distance transfer?
It depends on the vehicle. The Business Sedan takes up to 3 bags, the Van up to 10 bags with up to 7 passengers. Declare your luggage at booking so we confirm a vehicle in which everything fits comfortably.
Do I need my passport for a long-distance transfer to France, Italy or Germany?
Yes, carry a valid passport or identity card and any visa you need, as border checks are possible. The chauffeur does not handle travel documents; checking your entry requirements is your responsibility.
Are child seats available on long-distance journeys?
Yes. Request child seats or boosters at booking with the children's ages. They are installed before departure, and the chauffeur can plan more frequent stops on long journeys with young children.
Can I sleep during a long-distance transfer?
Yes. Many passengers rest during long journeys, especially after a night flight. The First Class Sedan offers the most comfortable rear seats for resting, and the chauffeur drives smoothly and quietly.
Are chauffeurs rested for long journeys?
Yes. Safety comes first. Long journeys are planned so that the chauffeur is fit to drive, and the chauffeur takes breaks where needed. Respecting driving rules is part of every long-distance transfer.
Can I bring my bicycle on a long-distance transfer?
Yes, if declared at booking. A bike usually travels in the Van, depending on its size and the other luggage. Describe it in the notes so we can confirm the vehicle has enough space.
How long does a long-distance transfer from Geneva take?
It depends on the distance, route, traffic and stops. A transfer to Lyon is relatively short, while Paris, Nice or Munich take most of a day. Ask us for a realistic estimate when booking.
How do I contact you about a long-distance transfer?
Call or message AirportsTransfers.ch on +41 78 346 56 77 by phone or WhatsApp, or write to contact@airportstransfers.ch. Contact us for destinations not listed online or for journeys requiring several vehicles.
