Geneva Airport arrival guide
Before you land
Geneva Airport (GVA) lies a few kilometres north-west of the city centre, right on the border between Switzerland and France. Most flights use the main terminal, where arrivals are on the ground floor and departures on the level above. When you book your transfer, give us your flight number: we follow your flight and adjust your chauffeur's arrival if you land early or late. Keep your phone switched on after landing, so that the chauffeur can contact you if needed.
Swiss sector or French sector
Geneva Airport has a Swiss sector and a French sector. Most passengers arrive in the Swiss sector and exit into the main arrivals hall in Switzerland. A smaller number of flights, mainly from French airports, use the French sector, which allows passengers to enter France directly without passing through Swiss customs. The sector you leave from determines where your chauffeur waits, so check it on your ticket or with your airline, and select it when you book. If you are travelling to a French destination such as Annecy, Chamonix or Megève and arrive in the French sector, your chauffeur meets you on the French side.
Baggage claim and customs
After passport control, where required, you collect your luggage in the baggage reclaim hall. Ski bags, golf bags, pushchairs and other bulky items usually arrive at a separate oversized baggage counter, so allow a little more time. Then pass through customs, choosing the green or red channel according to what you carry, and exit into the arrivals hall.
Meeting your chauffeur
Your chauffeur waits in the arrivals hall, just after the exit from customs, holding a sign with your name or the name given at booking. If you cannot see your chauffeur straight away, stay in the arrivals hall and call or send a WhatsApp message to +41 78 346 56 77. Once you have met, the chauffeur helps with your trolley and walks you to the vehicle, parked a short walk away. Waiting is included if your flight is delayed, so there is no need to hurry through the terminal.
Luggage and skis
Declare the number of suitcases, ski bags, snowboards and boot bags when you book. This lets us send a vehicle with enough room, typically the Van (Mercedes V-Class), which takes up to 7 passengers and 10 bags with skis. If you have more luggage than planned on the day, tell your chauffeur or call us as early as possible.
Departures
For your return flight, your chauffeur collects you at the agreed time and drops you at the departures level. Allow enough time for check-in and security, especially on winter Saturdays, when the airport is busy with ski travellers.
