Private day tours in Geneva – private chauffeur in a Mercedes

Your itinerary, your pace

A private day tour is a chauffeur by the hour (minimum 2 hours) used for sightseeing. Your chauffeur collects you at your hotel or home in Geneva, drives you to the places you want to see, waits while you visit, eat or walk, and brings you back at the end of the day. There is no group to follow and no fixed timetable. You can stay longer where you like a place and skip what does not interest you.

Our chauffeurs are drivers, not licensed tour guides. They know the roads, the parking options and the time needed between stops, and can suggest a practical order for your visits.

What is included

  • A chauffeur and vehicle for the hours booked
  • Waiting at each stop within the booked period
  • Pick-up and drop-off at your hotel, home or Geneva Airport
  • Child seats on request for families
  • A choice of Business Sedan, First Class Sedan, Van or Minibus

Entrance tickets, meals, cable cars and train tickets, such as the train from Täsch to Zermatt, are not part of the chauffeur service and are paid by you on site.

Day trip ideas from Geneva

  • Lake Geneva and Lavaux: Nyon, Rolle, Morges, Lausanne, the Lavaux vineyards near Cully, Vevey, Montreux and the Château de Chillon
  • Gruyères: the medieval town, its castle and cheese dairy, combined with Bulle or Château-d'Oex
  • Annecy and its lake: the old town, Talloires and the lakeside road
  • Chamonix-Mont-Blanc: views of Mont Blanc and the cable cars of the valley
  • Glacier 3000 at the Col du Pillon, with Les Diablerets and Gstaad
  • Zermatt via Täsch, for the Matterhorn, or Interlaken and Lauterbrunnen in the Bernese Oberland
  • Bern, the Swiss capital, with its old town, or Lucerne and its lake
  • Évian-les-Bains and Yvoire on the French shore of the lake

Some trips, such as Zermatt or Interlaken, make for a long day; your chauffeur can advise on a realistic start time.

The vehicle depends on your group. A couple travels comfortably in the Business Sedan (Mercedes E-Class) or the First Class Sedan (Mercedes S-Class), which has more space in the rear for long drives. Families and groups of friends usually choose the Van (Mercedes V-Class), with up to 7 seats and large windows, while the Minibus (Mercedes Sprinter) suits clubs, associations and company outings. Day tours can also start or end at Geneva Airport, which is useful on the day you arrive or leave.

Private day tours: questions and answers

45 questions answered

How long is a private day tour?
You choose the number of hours, from a minimum of 2. Most full-day trips from Geneva to the Alps or Lake Geneva take a full working day.
Is the chauffeur a tour guide?
No. Our chauffeurs are professional drivers. They know the region and the roads but do not provide guided tours.
Are entrance tickets included?
No. Tickets, meals, cable cars and trains are paid on site. The booking covers the chauffeur and vehicle for the hours booked.
Can we change the itinerary during the day?
Yes, within the booked hours and a reasonable distance. Discuss changes with your chauffeur.
How do I book a day tour?
Book a chauffeur by the hour on AirportsTransfers.ch, add your planned stops in the notes, see the price and pay online.
Booking and payment8
How is the price of a private day tour calculated?
The price depends on the number of hours booked and the vehicle class. A day tour in a Van costs more per hour than in a Business Sedan. The full price is shown before you pay.
How do I pay for a private day tour?
You pay online in advance through a secure Stripe checkout, by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. You receive the confirmation by email with your start time, place and vehicle.
Can we extend the day tour if we want to stay longer somewhere?
Often, yes, if the chauffeur is available. Ask the chauffeur as early as possible during the day. Additional hours are arranged according to the conditions shown at booking.
What if the weather is bad on our tour day?
You can change the itinerary on the day, for example choosing Gruyères or a lakeside town instead of a mountain viewpoint. To move the date, contact us; changes follow the conditions shown at booking.
How do cancellations work for day tours?
The cancellation terms are those shown at booking and depend on how close you cancel to the start time. Please read them before paying and let us know as early as possible.
Are fuel and tolls included in the day tour price?
Yes. Fuel and normal driving within the agreed region are included. Tolls on the route booked are included as well, so you do not pay the chauffeur during the day.
Can a hotel concierge book a day tour for us?
Yes. Concierges can book and pay online on your behalf, adding your names, hotel and planned stops. The chauffeur then collects you at the hotel at the agreed time.
Can we book a day tour as a gift?
Yes. Book and pay online, entering the names and contact details of the people who will travel. The chauffeur collects them at the agreed place with no payment on the day.
How it works8
How does a private day tour with a chauffeur work?
You book a chauffeur by the hour online with the start time, place, number of hours and vehicle, and describe your planned stops in the notes. The chauffeur collects you, drives you to each place, waits while you visit and brings you back.
Do we need a fixed itinerary before booking a day tour?
No, but a rough plan helps. List the places you would like to see in the notes so the number of hours matches the distances. AirportsTransfers.ch can advise on a realistic route and duration.
Where does a private day tour start and finish?
It starts and ends where you choose: your hotel or home in Geneva, a station or Geneva Airport. Some travellers start a tour on arrival day and finish at their hotel in another town.
How does the chauffeur organise the order of visits?
The chauffeur knows the roads, parking options and driving times, and can suggest a practical order for your stops. You remain free to stay longer in one place or skip another.
What does the chauffeur do while we visit a site?
The chauffeur parks nearby and waits with the vehicle. When you are ready to leave, call or message the chauffeur, and the car is brought to the agreed meeting point.
Can we combine sightseeing with an airport drop-off?
Yes. Load your luggage in the morning, enjoy a day of visits, and the chauffeur drops you at Geneva Airport at the end of the booked hours. Allow enough margin for your flight.
How do we choose the number of hours for a day tour?
Count the driving time to the furthest point and back, plus the time you want at each stop. Long trips such as Zermatt or Interlaken need a full day; ask us if unsure.
How early should a private day tour be booked?
Book a few days ahead, especially in summer and on weekends, to secure the vehicle you want. For tours at short notice, call or message +41 78 346 56 77.
What's included6

A chauffeur and vehicle for the hours booked, waiting at each stop within that time, pick-up and drop-off at your hotel, home or Geneva Airport, fuel and normal driving within the region agreed, and child seats on request.

Is the chauffeur's lunch included in our day?
You do not need to provide lunch for the chauffeur. The chauffeur organises their own break while you visit or eat, without affecting your programme.
Which vehicle is best for a couple's day tour?
A couple travels comfortably in the Business Sedan (Mercedes E-Class) or the First Class Sedan (Mercedes S-Class), which has more space in the rear for long drives through the countryside.
Which vehicle suits a family or a group of friends?

Does the chauffeur give commentary during the tour?
Our chauffeurs are drivers, not licensed tour guides. They know the region and can share practical tips, but for detailed historical commentary you should book a local guide at the sites.
Typical situations10

Can we visit Glacier 3000 and Gstaad in one day?
Yes. A day tour can take you to Glacier 3000 at the Col du Pillon, with Les Diablerets and Gstaad on the way. Check weather and lift operations before setting off.
Can we see the Matterhorn on a day tour from Geneva?
Yes, but it is a long day. The chauffeur drives you to Täsch, and you take the shuttle train to Zermatt. Your chauffeur can advise a realistic early start time.
Can we visit Bern or Lucerne on a private day tour?
Yes. Bern, the Swiss capital with its old town, and Lucerne with its lake are possible day trips from Geneva. Lucerne makes for a long day, so plan enough hours.
Can we do a day tour to Interlaken and Lauterbrunnen?
Yes. Interlaken and the Lauterbrunnen valley in the Bernese Oberland are popular but long day trips. AirportsTransfers.ch recommends an early start and a full day of hours.
Can we visit Évian and Yvoire on the French shore?
Yes. With AirportsTransfers.ch, Évian-les-Bains and the medieval village of Yvoire on the French side of Lake Geneva make a relaxed day trip, with time for lunch by the lake.
Can we do a wine tasting day without driving?
Yes. With a chauffeur by the hour, you can visit wine cellars in Lavaux, the Geneva countryside or La Côte without worrying about driving. Tastings are booked and paid directly with the estates.
Practical questions8
Can we take children on a private day tour?
Yes. Request child seats or boosters at booking with the children's ages. They stay installed for the whole day, and the chauffeur can plan extra stops for the children.
How many people can join a day tour in one vehicle?
The Business Sedan takes up to 3 passengers, the Van up to 7. For larger groups, request the Minibus via the contact form or book several vehicles travelling together.
Do we need passports for day tours to France?
Yes. Carry a valid passport or identity card on tours to Annecy, Chamonix, Évian or Yvoire, as border checks are possible. Checking entry requirements is your responsibility.
Can we leave bags and shopping in the car during the day?
Yes. The same vehicle stays with you, so bags and shopping can remain in the car. Keep passports, valuables and cameras with you during visits.
Can a guest with limited mobility enjoy a day tour?
Yes. The chauffeur drops you as close as possible to each site and adapts the pace. Mention mobility needs at booking so we suggest the easiest vehicle, such as the Van with its sliding door.
What should we bring on a mountain day tour?
Bring warm layers, sunglasses, sun cream and comfortable shoes, as mountain weather changes quickly even in summer. Snacks and water are useful between stops, and the chauffeur can keep spare layers in the car.
Can we ask for a chauffeur who speaks our language?
Yes, you can ask. State the preferred language in the booking notes, and AirportsTransfers.ch assigns a suitable chauffeur whenever possible. For detailed commentary in your language, consider booking a local guide at the main sites.
How do we contact you to plan a day tour?
Email contact@airportstransfers.ch or call or message +41 78 346 56 77 on WhatsApp. We can help with the itinerary and the number of hours before you book.
