A private transfer price is the cost of the whole vehicle with its chauffeur for the journey you booked, and in a fixed-price model the running costs of that journey, such as fuel and road charges, are built in rather than added on the day. With AirportsTransfers.ch, the fixed price per vehicle is shown before you pay and includes meet-and-greet, flight tracking and waiting if your flight is late. Anything you add, such as an extra stop, is best arranged at booking.
- Vehicle and chauffeur: the whole car, van or minibus, not a seat
- Journey costs: fuel and road charges for the booked route are built into a fixed fare
- Airport service: meet-and-greet with name sign and flight tracking
- Waiting: included if your flight lands late
- Check at booking: extra stops, route changes, hourly hire and special requests
The vehicle and the driver
The core of a private transfer is exclusive use of a vehicle and a professional chauffeur. Unlike a shared shuttle, you do not wait for other passengers or make detours to other hotels. The price is per vehicle, not per person, so a family of five in a Mercedes V-Class pays the same as two people in it. Choosing the right vehicle is therefore part of getting value, and it is worth thinking about both people and bags rather than people alone: an E-Class for up to three passengers and three bags, an S-Class for extra comfort, a V-Class for up to seven passengers with ten bags and skis, or a Sprinter for groups.
Fuel, tolls and the vignette
Long journeys from Geneva cross a mix of road networks. Swiss motorways require a vignette, the annual motorway sticker, while French autoroutes, such as the routes towards Chamonix, Annecy and the Tarentaise valley, charge tolls. Italian autostrade are tolled too, and the Mont Blanc Tunnel has its own charge. In a fixed-price transfer, the operator plans the route and builds these journey costs, along with fuel, into the price, so passengers are not asked to pay at a toll booth or reimburse the driver afterwards. If you are ever unsure, the booking summary is the place to check what your price covers.
Waiting time and flight tracking
An airport pick-up includes the driver following your flight and adjusting to the real landing time. Waiting caused by a late flight is included, so a delay in the air does not add to your bill. A normal period after landing is also built in for passport control, baggage reclaim and customs. If you expect to be held up inside the terminal, for example while reporting a missing bag, send your driver a message.
Luggage, skis and child seats
Luggage is carried in the vehicle as part of the transfer, within its capacity. The important thing is to declare it accurately when booking, especially skis, snowboards, golf bags and pushchairs, so a vehicle with enough space is allocated. Child seats are available on request; specify the number and the children's ages when booking, and check the booking summary for how they appear on your reservation. The driver loads and unloads everything for you.
Extras and exclusions
Some requests fall outside a standard point-to-point transfer, and it is fairer for everyone to agree them in advance. Examples include additional stops along the way, a change of destination on the day, a significantly longer route than booked, or keeping the vehicle for errands after arrival. For itineraries with several appointments, a chauffeur by the hour, with a minimum of two hours, is often the better formula. Read the booking terms for details on changes, cancellations and waiting beyond what is included, and ask if anything is unclear.
A transfer price covers the road journey. It does not include onward transport outside the vehicle, such as the shuttle train between Täsch and car-free Zermatt, nor costs that belong to your trip rather than the transfer, like airline baggage fees for sports equipment or ski passes. Tipping is a personal choice and not expected as part of the price.
Comparing prices between options is easier once you know what each covers. A shared shuttle quoted per seat, a metered taxi and a fixed-price private vehicle are not like-for-like: the first involves other passengers and stops, the second depends on traffic, and the third reserves the whole vehicle for your group at a known cost.
Booking with a clear price
When you book online with AirportsTransfers.ch, the fixed price per vehicle is displayed before you pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, and your confirmation summarises the journey. Your chauffeur meets you with a name sign, tracks your flight and helps with luggage and skis declared at booking. Companies can request invoices, and return trips can be booked together.
