Booking a private transfer online takes only a few minutes: enter your pick-up and drop-off points, choose the date and time or flight, give the number of passengers and bags, pick a vehicle, review the fixed price and pay. With AirportsTransfers.ch the price for the vehicle is displayed before you pay, and a confirmation arrives straight after. The details below explain each step and the small things worth getting right.
- Route: pick-up and drop-off addresses, including airport and exit
- Timing: date, time or flight number for airport collections
- Passengers and luggage: exact numbers, plus skis and bulky items
- Vehicle: from a Mercedes E-Class to a Sprinter minibus
- Payment: card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, with instant confirmation
Step 1: choose your route
Start by entering where you want to be collected and where you are going. For an arrival, the pick-up is Geneva Airport, and the drop-off is your hotel, apartment, chalet or office. Be as precise as possible with the destination: in ski resorts, the name of the chalet and the street matter, because many properties sit on lanes with similar names. If you are travelling to car-free Zermatt, the road transfer ends at Täsch, from where a shuttle train continues to the village.
For departures, reverse the order. If you need a stop on the way, for example to collect a friend or pick up keys, add it in the notes or ask before booking.
Step 2: set the date, time and flight
For an airport collection, give the date and your flight number. The flight number allows the driver to follow your arrival in real time, so the pick-up moves automatically if the flight is early or late. Check it carefully against your ticket, including the airline code. For a departure, enter the time you want to be picked up, worked out from your flight time, the drive to the airport and a sensible margin. As a guide, Geneva Airport to Lausanne is about 45 minutes, to Verbier around 2 h and to Courchevel about 2 h 15.
If you also need a return journey, book it at the same time. It saves effort later and keeps both legs under one reference.
Step 3: passengers and luggage
Enter the exact number of passengers, including children and babies, and the number of suitcases and hand luggage items. Then add skis, snowboards, golf bags, pushchairs or any other bulky items. These numbers determine which vehicles are offered, and accuracy here prevents problems at the kerb. If you are travelling with children who need child seats, request them and give their ages so the correct seats can be fitted.
Step 4: choose the vehicle
The vehicles available depend on your group. The Business Sedan, a Mercedes E-Class, suits up to three passengers with three bags. The First Class Sedan, a Mercedes S-Class, offers more comfort for a small party. The Van, a Mercedes V-Class, takes up to seven passengers and ten bags, with room for skis. For larger groups, the Minibus, a Mercedes Sprinter, carries more people and equipment. Because the price is per vehicle rather than per person, sharing a larger vehicle often works out well for families and groups.
Think about comfort as well as capacity. A vehicle that only just fits everyone and every bag can feel cramped on a two-hour mountain drive, so if you are on the borderline, choosing the next size up is often worth it, particularly with skis, boot bags and young children who need space around their seats.
Step 5: review and pay
Before paying, read the summary carefully: the route, the date and time or flight number, the number of passengers and bags, any child seats and the vehicle. The fixed price is displayed at this point, so you know exactly what you are paying. Payment is made online by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay through a secure payment page. Companies can request an invoice for business travel.
Once payment goes through, you receive a booking confirmation by email. Keep it on your phone: it contains your reference, the journey details and the contact number for the day.
Take two minutes to read the confirmation as soon as it arrives. Check the spelling of the lead passenger's name, which will appear on the driver's sign, the flight number, the destination address and the luggage count. Mistakes are simple to correct days before travel and much harder to fix at the airport. If you booked on behalf of someone else, forward the confirmation to them so they have the contact details too.
