Avoriaz
Avoriaz sits at around 1,800 metres above Morzine, about 1 h 30 by road from Geneva Airport, and it has one feature that shapes every transfer: the resort is car-free. Vehicles stop at the resort entrance, and the last stretch to your apartment is made on snow. Here are clear answers to the questions travellers ask us most about getting from Geneva Airport to Avoriaz and back.
Can we get to Avoriaz late at night after landing in Geneva?
Yes. We operate 24/7, so a late landing is not a problem on our side. Give your flight number when booking: we track your flight in real time, the chauffeur adapts to the actual arrival time, and waiting caused by a late flight is included. Your chauffeur meets you in the arrivals hall with a name board and drives you straight to Avoriaz, about 1 h 30 away.
The point to plan is what happens once you arrive. According to the resort, the welcome point at the entrance is staffed around the clock during the holiday season, and snow vehicles provide transport after dark. Before you travel, check two things with your accommodation:
- how to collect your keys if you arrive late in the evening or at night;
- which part of the resort your building is in, so you know how far you are from the entrance.
Keep your accommodation's phone number at hand, and let them know your expected arrival time once you have landed. If your flight is very late, book as early as possible. For a last-minute need, call or send a WhatsApp message to +41 78 346 56 77.
Avoriaz is car-free, how do we get from the car park to our apartment?
As cars are not allowed in the resort, your transfer ends at the resort entrance, where the drop-off area and reception are located. The chauffeur unloads your luggage there. From that point, the resort explains several options:
- Snow vehicles (snowcats) that carry passengers and luggage through the resort, especially on arrival days and after dark.
- Horse-drawn sleighs, a traditional Avoriaz service, depending on the season and the current arrangements.
- Luggage sledges that you pull yourself if your apartment is close to the entrance.
Arrangements can change from one season to the next, so check the latest information with the resort or your accommodation before you travel, and ask how long the last stretch usually takes. Pack sensibly: several medium bags are easier to move on snow than one very heavy suitcase.
Is a taxi to Avoriaz from Geneva Airport a rip-off?
We cannot judge other operators. What we can say is how to avoid surprises with us. The transfer from Geneva Airport to Avoriaz has a fixed price per vehicle, shown instantly in the booking form before you pay. It is per vehicle, not per person, and it does not change with traffic, snow on the climb from Morzine or a late flight.
You also know in advance which vehicle you get, that it runs on winter tyres and that your skis fit because you declared them at booking. The drive takes about 1 h 30. As Avoriaz is car-free, agree the drop-off point at the resort entrance when booking.
Return transfer from Avoriaz to GVA, where is the pick-up point?
For the return journey, the pick-up point is at the resort entrance, where vehicles are allowed, not at the door of your apartment. Agree the exact meeting point when you book and write it in the booking notes, so the chauffeur knows where to wait.
When you set your pick-up time, plan backwards:
- the time your airline recommends for check-in and security at Geneva Airport;
- about 1 h 30 of driving, plus a margin for Saturday traffic in the valley or snow;
- the time needed to bring your luggage from the apartment to the resort entrance, which can take longer on departure days when many guests leave at once.
Give your flight number when booking. If your plans change, call or send a WhatsApp message to +41 78 346 56 77.
Avoriaz from Geneva Airport, how much for a private car with 5 people?
The transfer from Geneva Airport to Avoriaz has a fixed price per vehicle, not per person, shown instantly in the booking form and on the Avoriaz page before you pay. The amount depends on the vehicle you choose:
| Vehicle | Passengers | Luggage |
|---|---|---|
| Mercedes E-Class | Up to 3 | 3 bags |
| Mercedes S-Class (VIP) | Up to 3 | 2 bags |
| Mercedes V-Class | Up to 7 | 10 bags, room for skis |
| Mercedes Sprinter | Up to 16 | Ask when booking |
For five people, the V-Class is the right choice: everyone travels together, with luggage and skis, for one price. Waiting caused by a late flight is included.
Bus or private transfer to Avoriaz, which is easier?
We do not run shared shuttles or buses to Avoriaz: every transfer is private, with the vehicle and chauffeur reserved for your party only. A bus can mean timetables, waiting at the airport and connections with skis and suitcases, which is not ideal after a flight, especially with children.
A private transfer leaves when you land. You are met in the arrivals hall, driven door to door to the resort entrance in about 1 h 30, and your luggage is unloaded at the drop-off area. The fixed price is per vehicle, not per person, and is shown before payment, so for a family or a group of friends the comparison is quick to make.
How to book
Enter Geneva Airport and your Avoriaz accommodation in the online booking form to see the fixed price per vehicle instantly, before payment. Add your flight number, the number of passengers, luggage, skis and any child seats, and note the drop-off point at the resort entrance. Pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. Your chauffeur meets you in the arrivals hall with a name board. You can book the return transfer at the same time.
