Méribel
Méribel, in the heart of the 3 Vallées, is one of the most popular ski destinations reached from Geneva Airport. This article answers the three questions we are asked most about the route: how long the drive takes, how much a private transfer costs compared with a taxi, and how to plan your return to Geneva on changeover day. In short: allow about 2 h 10, expect more on winter Saturdays, and book both legs in advance with a fixed price per vehicle.
How many hours is the drive from Geneva to Méribel?
The private transfer from Geneva Airport to Méribel takes about 2 h 10 in normal conditions. The journey crosses into France and follows the motorway towards Annecy and Albertville, then the valley road to Moûtiers, where the final climb into the Allues valley up to Méribel begins.
What can make it longer
- Winter Saturdays. Many chalet and apartment rentals change over on Saturday, so traffic builds up on the roads into the Tarentaise valley and around Moûtiers.
- Snow. The last section from Moûtiers is a steep, winding mountain road. After snowfall, everyone drives more slowly.
- School holidays. Christmas, New Year and the February holiday weeks are the busiest periods of the season.
Your chauffeur adapts to the conditions, and our vehicles are fitted with winter tyres. The time on the road does not change your price: you pay the fixed price per vehicle you saw when booking, whatever the traffic.
From the arrivals hall to your chalet door
We track your flight, so your chauffeur knows when you actually land. You are met in the arrivals hall with a name board (Swiss sector, or French sector on request), and waiting caused by a late flight is included. Your chauffeur helps with skis and luggage and drives you door to door, to your hotel or chalet in Méribel Centre, Méribel Village, Méribel-Mottaret or wherever you are staying. Give the exact address when booking, especially for chalets on smaller roads.
How much does a taxi from Geneva Airport to Méribel cost?
We do not work with a meter but with a fixed price per vehicle. Enter Geneva Airport and your Méribel chalet or hotel in the booking form and the price appears instantly, before payment. The same price is also shown on the Méribel destination page. It does not change with traffic, snow or a late flight.
Per vehicle, not per person
Because the price is per vehicle, families and groups who share a car divide the cost. Choose the vehicle that fits your party and your equipment:
| Vehicle | Passengers | Luggage | Typical use for Méribel |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mercedes E-Class | up to 3 | 3 bags | couples or small families without much equipment |
| Mercedes S-Class | up to 3 | 2 bags | VIP comfort with light luggage |
| Mercedes V-Class | up to 7 | 10 bags, skis | families and groups with ski equipment |
| Mercedes Sprinter | up to 16 | groups | large chalet groups |
Declare skis and snowboards when booking so the right vehicle is sent, and request child seats or boosters if needed. You pay online by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, and nothing is collected by the chauffeur on the day.
What the price includes
- a private vehicle for your party only, with no shared rides and no stops for other passengers;
- flight tracking and meet & greet with a name board in the arrivals hall;
- waiting caused by a late flight;
- help with luggage, and space for the skis and snowboards you declared;
- an instant e-mail confirmation, and an invoice for companies on request.
How do I book a return from Méribel to Geneva Airport on changeover day?
Changeover day, often a Saturday in Méribel, is the busiest day of the week on the roads down the valley and the day when demand for transfers is highest. The simplest approach is to book your return at the same time as your arrival, so the pick-up is planned before you even leave home.
Choosing your pick-up time
Work backwards from your flight:
- Start with your departure time and the check-in and security time your airline recommends.
- Add the drive of about 2 h 10.
- Add a generous margin for Saturday traffic in the Tarentaise valley and for snow, which can make the journey noticeably longer.
Enter your flight number and departure time in the booking form; if you are unsure about the right pick-up time, ask the team when booking. Many chalets also ask guests to leave by a set time on changeover morning, so check your check-out time too: an early pick-up can solve both.
Ready at the door
Your chauffeur collects you at your chalet or hotel door, loads skis and luggage and drives straight to the airport, with no shared rides or stops for other passengers. If your plans change during the week, for example a new flight time, contact us by phone or WhatsApp on +41 78 346 56 77 or at contact@airportstransfers.ch so we can adjust the pick-up.
Not flying home straight away?
The return does not have to end at the airport. If you are spending a night in Geneva before your flight, or continuing to Lausanne or another city, enter that address as your destination: the transfer is door to door and the fixed price per vehicle for that route is shown in the booking form. Geneva city centre is about 15 minutes from the airport, and Lausanne about 45 minutes.
How to book
Book your Méribel transfer online up to 12 hours before pick-up: enter your route, date, passengers and ski equipment, and the fixed price per vehicle is shown instantly before you pay. You receive an e-mail confirmation straight away, and on arrival your chauffeur meets you with a name board in the arrivals hall.
