Moûtiers

Moûtiers, in the Tarentaise valley, is the gateway to the Three Valleys: from here the roads climb to Courchevel, Méribel, Les Menuires and Val Thorens, and the spa resort of Brides-les-Bains lies just above the town. A private transfer from Geneva Airport takes skiers, chalet staff and spa guests straight to Moûtiers or right on up to their resort.

Chauffeur's tipMost passengers are going beyond Moûtiers. Give us your resort and chalet address so we can quote and drive the whole route up to Courchevel, Méribel or Val Thorens.

From Geneva to the Tarentaise

Your chauffeur leaves Switzerland at Bardonnex and takes the A41 motorway to Annecy. From there, the route follows the western shore of Lake Annecy or the motorway via Chambéry, then continues past Albertville into the Tarentaise. The N90 dual carriageway climbs the valley of the Isère to Moûtiers, where the roads to the Three Valleys resorts branch off. The 124 km take around 1 h 50 in normal traffic.

Arriving in Moûtiers

The town lies at a narrow junction of valleys and is mainly a transport hub, with a railway station served by trains from Paris in the ski season. Some passengers stop here to meet friends or take a train; most continue up to the resorts. Your chauffeur can drop you in the centre, at the station or take you all the way to your accommodation. AirportsTransfers.ch also collects you at the end of your stay for the return to Geneva Airport.

Practical advice

Winter Saturdays are notoriously busy on the N90 and around Moûtiers, as thousands of skiers change over in the Three Valleys; leaving early helps a lot. Skis, snowboards and boot bags must be declared when booking. The Mercedes V-Class takes up to 7 passengers and 10 bags with skis, and a Sprinter minibus suits larger chalet groups. Child seats are fitted on request. Identity documents are needed for the border crossing.
