Saas-Fee
Saas-Fee is one of the furthest ski resorts from Geneva Airport, about 3 h 10 by road, and it is car-free, which changes how drop-offs and pick-ups work. This guide answers the two questions travellers ask us most about this route: what a taxi-style ride to Saas-Fee costs, and how long the return journey to the airport takes.
How much is a taxi from Geneva Airport to Saas-Fee?
We do not quote approximate taxi fares, because each operator sets its own. Our private transfers work differently from a metered taxi: the price is fixed per vehicle and shown instantly in the booking form when you enter your Saas-Fee address, before you pay. It does not change in traffic, in snow or if your flight lands late, so you know the full cost of a drive of around 3 h 10 before you leave home.
What the fixed price includes
- A private vehicle and professional chauffeur reserved for your party only, never shared.
- Flight tracking, so the pick-up follows your real landing time.
- Meet and greet with a name board in the arrivals hall (Swiss sector; French sector on request).
- Waiting caused by a late flight.
- Winter tyres in season and space for the skis and snowboards declared at booking.
Choosing the vehicle
The fixed price depends on the vehicle, so match it to your group and luggage:
| Vehicle | Capacity | Best for Saas-Fee |
|---|---|---|
| Mercedes E-Class | 3 passengers, 3 bags | Couples and solo skiers |
| Mercedes S-Class | 3 passengers, 2 bags | VIP comfort on a long drive |
| Mercedes V-Class | 7 passengers, 10 bags, skis | Families and ski groups |
| Mercedes Sprinter | up to 16 passengers | Large groups, ski clubs |
Sharing the cost in a group
Because the price is per vehicle, not per person, a family or a group of friends in a V-Class divides one fixed amount between up to seven people. On a long route like Saas-Fee, this often makes the cost per person much more reasonable than people expect when they first think of a private car. A group of more than seven can book two vehicles or a Sprinter.
Travelling with ski equipment
Declare every pair of skis, snowboard and boot bag when booking, along with the number of suitcases. This lets us assign a vehicle with enough room for the whole group and its equipment, rather than discovering at the airport that everything does not fit. If you carry unusual items, mention them at booking or contact the team to confirm.
Arriving in a car-free village
Saas-Fee is a car-free village: road vehicles stop at the large car parks at the entrance of the resort, and you continue inside the village on foot or by electric vehicle. Many hotels collect their guests from the village entrance with their own electric taxis, so call your hotel or ask your holiday-home owner what they offer. When booking, give your accommodation address and tell us how you will continue into the village, so the chauffeur can drop you at the most practical point at the entrance.
How long does the return from Saas-Fee to Geneva Airport take?
Allow about 3 h 10 from Saas-Fee to Geneva Airport in normal conditions. The route descends the Saas valley to Visp, follows the Rhône valley motorway through Valais, then runs along Lake Geneva past Montreux and Lausanne to the airport. Snow on the mountain road, busy Saturdays in the ski season and roadworks can all add time, so the planning matters more than on a short city transfer.
How to plan your pick-up time
Work backwards from your flight:
- Start from your departure time and subtract the check-in time recommended by your airline.
- Subtract about 3 h 10 for the drive in normal conditions.
- Add a margin for snow or heavy traffic, especially on Saturdays and on stormy days.
- Add the time you need to get from your accommodation to the village entrance with your luggage.
As an example, a pick-up at 8:00 at the village entrance brings you to Geneva Airport at around 11:10 in normal conditions. If you are unsure, tell us your flight time when booking and we will help you choose a sensible pick-up time.
Where the chauffeur picks you up
As the village is car-free, the return pick-up takes place at the entrance of Saas-Fee rather than at your door. Agree the exact meeting point when booking, and arrange with your hotel or host how you and your luggage will get there, for example with the hotel's electric taxi. Keep your phone switched on: if anything changes on the day, contact us by phone or WhatsApp on +41 78 346 56 77.
Early-morning and night departures
We operate 24/7, so an early-morning pick-up for a morning flight is possible. Book online at least 12 hours in advance, or add the return when you book your arrival, giving your accommodation, flight number and departure time. Our vehicles run on winter tyres in season, and the chauffeur adapts the pace to the conditions on the valley road.
Booking the return with your arrival
The simplest option is to book both directions at once: Geneva Airport to Saas-Fee on arrival and Saas-Fee to Geneva Airport on departure. Each direction has its own fixed price per vehicle, shown before payment, and both are confirmed by e-mail straight away. If your departure date changes during your stay, contact us by phone, WhatsApp or at contact@airportstransfers.ch with your booking reference.
How to book
Book online by entering Geneva Airport and your Saas-Fee address, the date, your flight number, the number of passengers and your skis. The fixed price per vehicle is shown instantly before payment, and you receive an e-mail confirmation straight away. Your chauffeur meets you with a name board in the arrivals hall.
