Geneva Airport taxi booking: pre-book a private car at a fixed price

Looking for a Geneva Airport taxi booking you can arrange before you fly? AirportsTransfers.ch is not a street taxi: we provide pre-booked private cars with a professional chauffeur, door to door, 24/7. You see a fixed price per vehicle before you pay, your chauffeur tracks your flight and waits for you in the arrivals hall with a name board, and no other passengers share your ride. Below you will find how pre-booking compares with the taxi rank, what is included, where to meet your chauffeur and typical drive times to the city and the ski resorts.

How pre-booking works compared with queuing at the taxi rank

When you land at Geneva Airport (GVA), there are two ways to get into a car. You can walk to the taxi rank outside the terminal and take the next vehicle in the line, or you can arrange the journey in advance so that a car and a chauffeur are already waiting for you. Most people who search for a "Geneva Airport taxi booking" want the second option: knowing before departure exactly who will pick them up, in which vehicle and for how much.

AirportsTransfers.ch is not a taxi company and does not operate at the taxi ranks. We are a private chauffeur company based in Thônex, Geneva. Our transfers are private cars with professional chauffeurs, booked and paid online before your trip. The result is close to what you would expect from a pre-booked taxi, with a few important differences: the price is fixed in advance, the vehicle is chosen to fit your group and luggage, and your chauffeur meets you inside the terminal.

What happens on the day of your arrival

  1. We follow your flight with flight tracking, so the pick-up adapts if you land early or late.
  2. Your chauffeur waits for you in the arrivals hall with a name board.
  3. He or she accompanies you to the vehicle reserved for you.
  4. You are driven door to door to your address, with no shared ride and no other passengers on board.

At a taxi rank, you discover the vehicle, the driver and the final fare once you are already on your way. With a pre-booked private car, all of this is settled before you board your plane, and your confirmation arrives by e-mail immediately after payment.

Fixed price or meter: how the fare is set

Street taxis in Geneva are regulated by the canton. Under the Geneva law on taxis and private-hire cars with chauffeur (LTVTC), every taxi must be equipped with a meter or another approved device to calculate the fare, and the cantonal government sets the maximum amounts of taxi tariffs. In practice, the amount you pay in a taxi depends on the distance driven, the time spent in traffic and any waiting, and you only know the total at the end of the ride.

A private car with chauffeur works differently. The same law allows the price of such a ride to be agreed in advance between the client and the operator, and that is how we work. You enter your route, date, number of passengers and luggage, and the booking system shows a fixed price for the whole vehicle before you pay. It is a price per vehicle, not per person, so a family, a group of friends or a team of colleagues share one fare.

  • With a taxi meter: the fare is calculated during the journey, within the maximum tariffs set by the canton.
  • With a pre-booked private car: the price is fixed and shown before payment, per vehicle, and confirmed in writing.

Traffic on the motorway, a busy evening in the city centre or a delayed flight do not change the price you accepted when booking. This is particularly useful for longer journeys, such as transfers to Lausanne or to the Alpine ski resorts, where the drive takes from under an hour to over three hours.

What is included in your transfer

Everything you need for a calm arrival is part of the booking, not an extra to negotiate with the driver on the spot:

  • Flight tracking and waiting for late flights: if your flight is delayed, your chauffeur adjusts to the real landing time. Waiting for late flights is included.
  • Meet & greet: your chauffeur waits in the arrivals hall with a name board.
  • Luggage: you choose a vehicle that matches your suitcases, so nothing has to be left behind or squeezed in.
  • Skis: declare your skis or snowboards when booking so that we assign a vehicle with enough space.
  • Child seats: available on request; simply indicate the number and the age of the children when you book.
  • Winter tyres: our vehicles are fitted with winter tyres for mountain roads in the cold season.
  • Invoices for companies: business travellers and assistants can request an invoice for their transfers.

Where you meet your chauffeur at Geneva Airport

Geneva Airport has two sectors: a Swiss sector and a French sector. We pick up passengers in both. When you book, tell us which sector you will exit through; if you are not sure, send us a message and we will check it with you before your trip.

Your chauffeur waits in the arrivals hall holding a name board with your name. Because your flight is tracked, you do not need to call anyone when you land: collect your luggage, go through customs and look for your name. If you need to reach us at any moment, for example if your baggage is delayed at the belt, you can contact us by WhatsApp or phone on +41 78 346 56 77.

Night and early-morning bookings

We operate 24/7, including late evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays. This matters most at the edges of the day. If your flight lands close to midnight, or if you need to be at the airport for a first departure of the morning, a pre-booked transfer means you do not have to depend on whether cars are waiting at the rank or whether drivers are available in an app at that hour.

  • Late arrivals: flight tracking means your chauffeur is there even if the plane is delayed late into the night.
  • Early departures: book your pick-up from your hotel, home or office at the time you choose, and the car comes to your door.
  • Same fixed price: the price shown when you book is the price you pay, whatever the time of day.

To the city or to the ski resorts

A transfer from GVA to Geneva city centre takes around 15 minutes, so even a short city ride benefits from a confirmed pick-up when you land. Many of our clients, however, travel further: to Lausanne and the Lake Geneva region, to other airports or to the Alpine ski resorts in Switzerland and France. The approximate drive times below assume normal traffic and road conditions; winter weekends and snowfall can add time.

Destination from GVAApproximate drive time
Geneva city centreabout 15 min
Lausanneabout 45 min
Chamonixabout 1 h 15
Verbierabout 2 h
Courchevelabout 2 h 15
Zermatt (Täsch)about 3 h 15

For Zermatt, the drive ends in Täsch, because Zermatt itself is car-free; the last stretch is covered by the shuttle train from Täsch. For ski resorts, the V-Class is usually the right choice: it seats up to seven passengers with ten bags and skis. Larger groups can travel together in a Sprinter.

Taxi rank, pre-booked private car, ride-hailing app or shuttle?

Each option has its place. The comparison below is general and describes how these services usually work; conditions vary from one operator or app to another.

If you travel light, alone and at a busy time of day, the taxi rank may suit you. If you want to know the price in advance, travel with family, luggage or skis, arrive at night or go beyond the city, a pre-booked private car is the more predictable choice.

Private chauffeur in Geneva and ski transfers: your questions

Is AirportsTransfers.ch a taxi company?
No. AirportsTransfers.ch is a private chauffeur company based in Thônex, Geneva. We do not operate street taxis and we do not use the taxi ranks at Geneva Airport. We provide pre-booked transfers in private cars with a professional chauffeur, booked and paid online at a fixed price per vehicle. For travellers, it is an alternative to taking a taxi at the rank: the car, the price and the meeting point are arranged before the flight.
How is the price of a pre-booked transfer different from a taxi fare?
In Geneva, taxis must use a meter or an approved device, and the canton sets the maximum taxi tariffs, so the final fare depends on distance, time and traffic. Our transfers are priced in advance: the booking system shows a fixed price for the whole vehicle before you pay. It is per vehicle, not per person, and it does not change with traffic or with a delayed flight.
What happens if my flight is delayed?
We track your flight, so your chauffeur adjusts to the actual landing time. Waiting for late flights is included in your booking, and you do not need to call us when your plane lands late. If something else delays you after landing, such as luggage that is slow to arrive on the belt, simply send us a message by WhatsApp or call +41 78 346 56 77 and we will keep your chauffeur informed.
Where will my chauffeur meet me at Geneva Airport?
Your chauffeur waits for you in the arrivals hall holding a name board with your name. Geneva Airport has a Swiss sector and a French sector, and we pick up in both. Please tell us at booking which sector you will exit through. If you are unsure, contact us before your trip and we will check it with you so that your chauffeur is in the right place.
Can I book a transfer for a very early or very late flight?
Yes. We operate 24/7, including nights, weekends and public holidays. For an early departure, book a pick-up at your hotel, home or office at the time you choose. For a late arrival, add your flight number and we will track it. The fixed price you see when booking stays the same whatever the time of day, so a night transfer holds no surprise.
Which vehicle should I choose for my group and luggage?
The Mercedes E-Class takes up to 3 passengers with 3 bags. The S-Class takes up to 3 passengers with 2 bags and suits business travel with light luggage. The V-Class takes up to 7 passengers with 10 bags and skis, which makes it the usual choice for families and ski trips. For larger groups, the Mercedes Sprinter carries up to 16 passengers.
Can I bring skis and request child seats?
Yes. Skis and snowboards must be declared when you book, so that we assign a vehicle with enough space, usually a V-Class. Child seats are available on request: indicate how many you need and the age of each child in your booking. Our vehicles are fitted with winter tyres for the drive to the mountains during the cold season.
How long does the drive from Geneva Airport take?
As a guide, in normal conditions: about 15 minutes to Geneva city centre, about 45 minutes to Lausanne, about 1 h 15 to Chamonix, about 2 h to Verbier, about 2 h 15 to Courchevel and about 3 h 15 to Täsch for Zermatt, which is car-free. Traffic, winter weekends and snowfall can add time, which is why a fixed price is reassuring on longer journeys.
How do I pay and when do I receive my confirmation?
You pay online when you book, by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, through the secure payment platform Stripe. The fixed price per vehicle is shown before payment, so you know the full amount before confirming. An e-mail confirmation with the details of your transfer is sent to you instantly. Companies can request an invoice for their transfers.
Is my ride shared with other passengers?
No. Every transfer is private: the vehicle and the chauffeur are reserved for you and your group only, with no shared rides and no stops for other travellers. You are driven door to door, from the arrivals hall to the address of your hotel, home, office or chalet. This is one of the main differences with a shuttle service, where seats are usually sold per person.
