Geneva city centre
A private transfer from Geneva Airport lets a family travel at its own pace, with child seats fitted before pick-up and a chauffeur who takes you door to door. Below are the questions parents ask us most often, from the right seat for a toddler to stopping on a long drive to a ski resort.
How does a family transfer from Geneva Airport to a ski resort work?
You book one private vehicle for the whole family, so nobody waits for other passengers and you go straight from the arrivals hall to your chalet or hotel. Your flight is tracked, the chauffeur meets you with a name board in the arrivals hall, and waiting caused by a late flight is included. For most families with ski luggage, the Mercedes V-Class is the natural choice: up to 7 passengers and 10 bags, with room for skis declared at booking.
Typical drive times from the airport in normal conditions:
| Resort | Approximate drive |
|---|---|
| Chamonix | ~1 h 15 |
| Morzine | ~1 h 15 |
| Megève | ~1 h 10 |
| Avoriaz | ~1 h 30 |
| Verbier | ~2 h |
| Courchevel | ~2 h 15 |
| Val Thorens | ~2 h 30 |
| Zermatt (Täsch) | ~3 h 15 |
Snow and holiday-weekend traffic can add time, so plan a relaxed arrival rather than a tight schedule.
Tell us at booking about everything that matters for the family: the number of suitcases, skis and boots, a pram or travel cot, and the age of each child for the seats. With this information we assign a vehicle with enough room and have the child seats installed before pick-up, so you can settle the children and leave as soon as you have your luggage. You can book the return transfer at the same time, with the same seats, and simply give your departure flight.
Do babies count as passengers?
Yes. Please include babies and young children in the passenger count when booking, because every occupant needs a seat or a child seat in the vehicle. Request the baby seat or booster you need and give each child's age, so the right seat is fitted before pick-up. Since the price is fixed per vehicle, not per person, counting a baby does not change the price of a given vehicle; it simply makes sure the car you book has enough seats.
Which seat do you provide for a 2-year-old?
For a toddler of around two, we provide a child seat suited to the age and size of your child. Child seats and boosters are available on request: give the child's age, and ideally the weight, when booking, so the correct seat is installed before pick-up. If you travel with several children, list each age separately. You can also add or change a seat later by phone, WhatsApp or e-mail at contact@airportstransfers.ch, quoting your booking reference.
Can I bring my own car seat?
You do not need to carry one, because child seats and boosters are provided on request and fitted before you arrive. If you prefer your own seat, for example because your child is used to it, mention it when booking so we know what to expect, and count it as an item of luggage when choosing the vehicle. For any question about fitting your own seat, contact us at contact@airportstransfers.ch or on WhatsApp at +41 78 346 56 77.
How many child seats fit in a van?
It depends on the type of seats and on how many adults are travelling. Rear-facing baby seats, toddler seats and boosters take up different amounts of space. The Mercedes V-Class takes up to 7 passengers and 10 bags, and child seats are provided on request. Give the number of children and their ages when booking, so we can check that all the seats fit together with your luggage and install them before pick-up. For larger families or two families travelling together, the Mercedes Sprinter carries up to 16 passengers.
Are mountain roads safe for children in a private car?
Our vehicles run on winter tyres in season, and professional chauffeurs adapt their speed and driving to the road and the weather. Children travel in child seats or boosters suited to their age, provided on request. On snowy days, allow a little extra time: the chauffeur will not rush the climb to the resort to keep to a schedule. If you have a particular concern, for example a child who is anxious on winding roads, tell the chauffeur at the start of the journey.
Can you stop on the way if my children get car sick?
Yes. Because the vehicle is reserved for your family only, a short stop can be made if a child feels unwell. Tell the chauffeur at the start of the journey that a child tends to get car sick, so he can stop at a safe place as soon as needed. A few simple habits also help:
- Sit the child where they can see out of the front window, if their seat allows.
- Avoid a heavy meal just before a long mountain drive.
- Keep water, a small snack and a spare change of clothes within reach.
- Tablets and screens can make nausea worse on winding roads.
If your flight times allow it, a daytime arrival is often easier for tired children than a late-evening drive into the mountains.
Can we stop for food with children on a long transfer?
Yes. On a longer transfer, such as the drive to Val Thorens or Zermatt, a short stop can be arranged for food, a toilet break or simply a rest. Mention it when booking and remind the chauffeur at the start of the trip, so the stop is planned along the route. Bring snacks and water for small children anyway, as journeys can take longer on busy days and on Saturdays in the ski season.
