Les Rousses

Les Rousses is the main resort of the French Jura, set around its lake on a high plateau close to the Swiss border. It is popular for cross-country skiing, gentle downhill slopes shared with the Dôle, and summer walking and cycling. Close enough for a quick transfer, it suits families and weekenders who want to be on the snow within an hour of landing.

Chauffeur's tipThe Col de la Givrine road can turn snowy quickly; booking a daytime arrival makes the climb easier and gives you light for unloading.

The route from Geneva Airport

This transfer stays in Switzerland for most of the way. Your chauffeur takes the A1 motorway along Lake Geneva towards Lausanne, leaves it at Nyon and climbs through Saint-Cergue to the Col de la Givrine. The route then crosses the border at La Cure and drops onto the plateau of Les Rousses. In normal conditions the trip takes about three quarters of an hour, one of the quickest mountain transfers from Geneva.

Arriving in Les Rousses

The resort is made of several villages: Les Rousses itself, Prémanon, Lamoura and Bellefontaine, with ski areas spread across the plateau and a downhill link with the Dôle on the Swiss side. The lake, the forests and the long cross-country tracks are the main draw. Our driver takes you directly to your hotel, apartment or chalet in whichever village you have booked. AirportsTransfers.ch also handles the return to Geneva Airport or Geneva city centre.

Practical advice

Cross-country skis are long and should be declared when booking, just like downhill equipment, so that we send a vehicle with enough room. A Mercedes V-Class van seats up to 7 passengers with 10 bags. In summer the plateau is a favourite for cyclists and families, and the transfer is even quicker. Because Les Rousses is so close, many visitors book a chauffeur by the hour for a day trip, with a minimum of two hours. Child seats are available on request.
