Seven days is enough to link Geneva, Zermatt and St. Moritz at a civilised pace: two or three nights below the Matterhorn, a night in Andermatt to split the crossing of the Alps, and three nights in the Engadine before the drive home. Zermatt's gateway at Täsch is about 231 km and 2 h 35 from Geneva Airport, and St. Moritz around 400 km and 5 h, so a chauffeur from AirportsTransfers.ch turns the long legs into comfortable scenic drives with stops along the way.
- Total length: seven days and six nights, starting and ending at Geneva Airport
- Overnights: Zermatt (3 nights), Andermatt (1 night), St. Moritz or the Engadine (2 nights)
- Longest drive: the return from St. Moritz to Geneva, about 400 km and 5 h
- Seasonality: the Furka and Oberalp passes are summer roads; winter needs another plan
- Alternative: ride the Glacier Express while the chauffeur carries your luggage
Day 1: Geneva to Zermatt
Your chauffeur meets you in arrivals at Geneva Airport and heads east along Lake Geneva. A coffee stop in the Lavaux vineyards or at Montreux breaks the journey before the road enters the Rhône valley, passes Sion's twin castle hills and climbs into the Mattertal. Cars stop at Täsch, where the driver helps with luggage onto the frequent shuttle train for the final minutes to car-free Zermatt. Arrive mid-afternoon, check in and stroll through the village to the church bridge for the first view of the Matterhorn.
Days 2 to 3: Zermatt and the Matterhorn
Spend two full days in Zermatt. The Gornergrat rack railway climbs to a viewpoint facing the Matterhorn and the great glaciers of Monte Rosa; it is the classic first excursion. On the second day, in summer, take the lifts to Sunnegga and walk the five lakes trail, where the Matterhorn reflects in still water on calm mornings, or ride the cable cars towards the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise for the high-altitude view. Evenings are for the old quarter's wooden chalets and granaries and an unhurried dinner. In winter, these are ski days, or snowshoe and spa days for non-skiers.
Days 4 to 5: over the passes to the Engadine
On day four, take the shuttle train back to Täsch, where your chauffeur is waiting. In summer, the drive heads up the Goms valley, over the Furka Pass past the Rhône Glacier, source of the river, and down to Andermatt, a mountain village at the crossroads of the Gotthard, Furka and Oberalp routes. A night here splits the journey and lets you enjoy the passes without rushing. On day five, cross the Oberalp Pass into Graubünden, follow the Vorderrhein valley past Disentis and the Rhine gorge near Flims, then climb over the Albula or Julier pass into the Engadine, arriving in St. Moritz in the afternoon.
In winter the Furka and Oberalp roads close. The car can take a longer route around, but the more elegant solution is to ride the Glacier Express from Zermatt to St. Moritz in a single scenic day, while your chauffeur drives the luggage by road and meets you at the station. In that case, swap the Andermatt night for an extra night in Zermatt or the Engadine.
Day 6: the Engadine
The Upper Engadine is a wide, high valley of larch forests and lakes. Walk or cycle around the lakes towards Sils and Maloja, ride the funicular to Muottas Muragl for a view along the whole chain of lakes, or head to the Diavolezza above the Bernina Pass to look across the glaciers of Piz Palü and Piz Bernina. Pontresina, next door to St. Moritz, is a quieter base with fine walks into the Val Roseg. In winter, the frozen lakes, cross-country tracks and ski areas take over.
- Pacing rule: no more than one long drive every two to three days
- Stops: Montreux, Sion, the Rhône glacier, Andermatt, the Rhine gorge
- Book early: Zermatt and St. Moritz fill up in peak summer and winter weeks
Day 7: back to Geneva or onward
The drive home from St. Moritz to Geneva Airport takes around 5 h. Plan a midday or evening flight, and the chauffeur can include a lunch stop on the way. Alternatively, end the trip with a flight from Zurich or Milan, both closer to the Engadine than Geneva, and book the final transfer there instead. Make sure the drive time and check-in are comfortably covered.
