Disneyland Paris

Disneyland Paris is about 558 km from Geneva Airport, a drive of roughly 5 h 20 across France to Marne-la-Vallée, east of Paris, before breaks. It is a long trip, but a private transfer with AirportsTransfers.ch takes the whole family and all the luggage from the arrivals hall to the hotel door with no changes and stops whenever the children need one.

  • Distance from GVA: about 558 km by road
  • Drive time: around 5 h 20, plus one or two breaks
  • Border crossing: yes, the route crosses into France
  • Best for: families with luggage, groups, travellers arriving on a late flight
  • Alternative: high-speed train to Marne-la-Vallée, usually with a change

What Disneyland Paris is

Disneyland Paris is the Disney resort in Europe, opened in the early 1990s at Marne-la-Vallée, around thirty kilometres east of central Paris. The resort has two theme parks side by side: Disneyland Park, with its fairy-tale castle and lands inspired by classic Disney stories, and a second park devoted to film, animation and newer franchises. Between the parks and the hotels, Disney Village has restaurants, shops and evening entertainment. Several themed hotels belong to the resort and many others are nearby, connected by shuttle buses.

For children the appeal is obvious: characters, parades, rides for every age and the castle at the end of Main Street. Adults often appreciate the detail of the theming and the night-time shows. Most families allow two to four days to see both parks at a relaxed pace.

Should you drive or take the train?

There is a high-speed rail station, Marne-la-Vallée–Chessy, right at the resort entrance, and some families travel from Geneva by train. It can work well, particularly for a couple or a small family travelling light, though it usually involves a change and moving cases between trains and platforms. A private car becomes the better option in several situations: when you are travelling with very young children, pushchairs and car seats; when there are five, six or seven of you and the price per vehicle compares favourably with individual tickets; when your flight lands late in the evening; or when you simply want to arrive at the hotel without carrying bags through stations. The car also gives you control over the timing of breaks, which matters on a journey of more than five hours.

The road from Geneva to Marne-la-Vallée

Leaving Geneva Airport, the car enters France and follows the motorways north-west through the Jura and Burgundy towards Paris, before turning off towards the eastern suburbs and Marne-la-Vallée, without crossing central Paris. The route is almost entirely motorway, which makes for a smooth ride. In normal traffic it takes around 5 h 20; summer Saturdays, French holiday departures and the approaches to the Paris region can add time.

Plan for at least one proper break, and two with small children. French motorway service areas have restaurants, play areas and toilets, and your chauffeur will suggest suitable stops along the way. Bring snacks, water, a tablet or books, and something warm to sleep under, as many children nap for part of the trip.

Tips for your stay at the resort

Tickets and hotel nights are best arranged well ahead, especially during school holidays and at Christmas and Halloween, when the parks are busiest and decorated for the season. Check the resort's own website for park hours and show schedules before you go, as they vary. Arrive at the park gates early to make the most of the shorter queues in the first hours, and plan a quieter midday break for younger children. Comfortable shoes and rain jackets are essential, since you will spend long days on your feet outdoors. If you are staying in a resort hotel, the chauffeur can drop you at the reception so you can leave bags before heading into the park.

Combining the trip with Paris

Some families add a day or two in Paris itself, to see the Eiffel Tower, a boat on the Seine or the museums. From Marne-la-Vallée, the city centre is reached by suburban train. If you would rather avoid public transport with children, a chauffeur by the hour (minimum two hours) can be arranged for part of your stay, and the return journey to Geneva Airport can start from Paris or from the resort.

Booking your Disneyland Paris transfer

Book online by choosing Geneva Airport and your Disneyland Paris hotel; the fixed vehicle price is shown before payment, which you make securely by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, with no extra charge for traffic on the way. Your chauffeur meets you in arrivals holding a sign with your name, tracks your flight and waits if it is late. For families the Mercedes V-Class, with seats for up to seven and room for ten bags, is the usual choice, while larger groups can travel in a Sprinter minibus. Child seats and boosters are provided on request, and the return trip can be booked at the same time.
