Chauffeur's tipMorillon has a village level and Morillon 1100 above; tell us where you are staying so the chauffeur takes the right road from the valley.

From Geneva Airport to the Giffre valley

The chauffeur crosses into France just east of Geneva and takes the A40 motorway towards Chamonix. Leaving the motorway in the Cluses area, the road heads into the Giffre valley via Taninges, then continues towards Samoëns until it reaches Morillon.

The trip takes around 1 h 05 in normal traffic. On busy winter Saturdays, traffic in the valley towards Samoëns can add a little time, so early or late arrivals tend to be quicker. The Giffre valley road itself is low and generally easy in winter. The mountains close in as you go up the valley, with the peaks of the Grand Massif rising above the village.

Arriving in Morillon

Morillon is accessible by car, both at the village and at Morillon 1100, and your driver drops you at your chalet, hotel or residence. A gondola links the village to Morillon 1100 and the Grand Massif ski area, which also includes Samoëns, Les Carroz, Flaine and Sixt. In the valley, the Lac Bleu offers a pleasant walk, and Samoëns is only a few minutes away.

The route to Morillon10
How far is Morillon from Geneva Airport?
Morillon is about 63 km by road from Geneva Airport, in the Giffre valley in Haute-Savoie. Most of the distance is on the A40 motorway, with only the last section on the valley road through Taninges towards Samoëns.
How long is the drive from Geneva Airport to Morillon?
The drive takes around 1 h 05 in normal traffic. Allow more time on busy winter Saturdays, when valley traffic towards Samoëns slows the final stretch, and a few extra minutes if you are staying up at Morillon 1100.
Which route does the chauffeur take from Geneva Airport to Morillon?
Your chauffeur crosses into France just east of Geneva, follows the A40 towards Chamonix, leaves it in the Cluses area and drives into the Giffre valley via Taninges, continuing towards Samoëns until Morillon.
Is there a border crossing between Geneva Airport and Morillon?
Yes. Morillon is in France, so the route crosses the Franco-Swiss border shortly after leaving the airport. Checks are usually light, but every passenger should carry a valid passport or identity card and any visa needed for the Schengen area.
How long does the transfer to Morillon take on a winter Saturday?
On peak Saturdays the trip to Morillon can take noticeably longer than the usual hour, as changeover traffic builds on the A40 and in the Giffre valley. Landing in the morning or later in the evening usually means a smoother drive.
Are snow chains needed on the road to Morillon?
The Giffre valley road to Morillon village is low and generally easy in winter. The climb to Morillon 1100 is steeper, and after heavy snowfall chains may be required; our vehicles are equipped for winter driving as French mountain rules require.
Can we stop on the way from Geneva Airport to Morillon?
Yes, a short stop for groceries or a break can be arranged, for example around Cluses or in Taninges before entering the valley. Mention it when booking so the chauffeur plans the time; a longer detour is better booked as a multi-stop trip.
Can I get a transfer to Morillon after a late-night arrival in Geneva?
Yes, transfers run 24/7, so a late flight is no problem. At night the motorway and the Giffre valley road are quiet, and the drive to Morillon often feels shorter; your chauffeur waits in arrivals even if you land after midnight.
What time should I land in Geneva to avoid traffic to Morillon?
Midweek arrivals rarely meet heavy traffic. On winter Saturdays, landing before late morning or after early evening avoids the busiest hours on the A40 and through Taninges, where most traffic for the Giffre valley resorts converges.
Is there an alternative route to Morillon if the A40 is busy?
Yes. Instead of the A40 to Cluses, the chauffeur can follow the country roads from Annemasse via Saint-Jeoire and Mieussy to Taninges, then continue up the Giffre valley to Morillon. Your driver chooses on the day according to live traffic.
Booking and payment9
How do I book a private transfer from Geneva Airport to Morillon?
Book online with AirportsTransfers.ch: enter Geneva Airport and your Morillon address, the date, your flight number and the number of passengers, then choose a vehicle and pay. You receive a confirmation straight away.
Is the price of a transfer to Morillon fixed?
Yes. AirportsTransfers.ch charges a fixed price per vehicle, not per person, shown before you pay. It does not change with traffic in the Giffre valley, so a family or group sharing the car to Morillon knows the cost in advance.
What is included in the Geneva Airport to Morillon transfer?
The fixed price covers the chauffeur, fuel, A40 motorway tolls and door-to-door drop-off at your chalet or residence in Morillon or Morillon 1100. Waiting time is included if your flight is late, so a delay never adds to the bill.
How can I pay for my transfer to Morillon?
You pay online when booking your Morillon transfer, by credit or debit card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. As payment is settled in advance, there is nothing to pay the chauffeur when you arrive in the Giffre valley.
How far in advance should I book a transfer to Morillon?
For winter Saturdays and school holidays, booking a few weeks ahead is wise, as many Grand Massif chalets change guests on the same day. Outside peak weeks a few days is usually enough, and last-minute requests are possible subject to availability.
Can I book the return from Morillon to Geneva Airport at the same time?
Yes. Add the return journey when you book, giving your departure flight, and your pickup at your Morillon chalet is fixed before you even arrive. Both legs are confirmed in a single order.
Can my company get an invoice for a transfer to Morillon?
Yes. Enter the company name and billing details when booking and an invoice is issued for the transfer, which suits team ski weekends, seminars or business guests staying in Morillon and the Grand Massif.
What happens if I need to cancel my Morillon transfer?
Please see our cancellation conditions at booking; they are shown clearly before you pay. If your plans for Morillon change, contact us as early as possible so we can help you adjust or cancel the transfer.
Can you transfer a large group from Geneva Airport to Morillon?
Yes. Up to 7 passengers fit in a Mercedes V-Class, and several vehicles can travel together. For bigger chalet groups heading to Morillon, the Mercedes Sprinter minibus is quoted on request via the contact form.

Should I use the Swiss or French sector of Geneva Airport to reach Morillon?
Most flights land in the Swiss sector, where your chauffeur normally meets you. Although Morillon is in France, a private transfer works from either side; just tell us at booking if you will come out in the French sector.
Is my flight tracked for the transfer to Morillon?
Yes. Your flight number is tracked, so the chauffeur knows your real landing time and is in the arrivals hall when you come through, whether you land early or late, before setting off for Morillon.
What if my flight to Geneva is delayed on the way to Morillon?
Waiting time is included if your flight is late, at no extra cost. The chauffeur adapts to your new arrival time and still drives you to Morillon at the fixed price agreed at booking.

What time should I be picked up in Morillon for a flight from Geneva?

Luggage, skis and children6

The Business Sedan (Mercedes E-Class) suits up to 3 passengers with 3 bags, the First Class S-Class offers more space and comfort for a similar group, and the V-Class van carries up to 7 passengers and 10 bags, ideal for chalet families going to Morillon.
Do you provide child seats for the drive to Morillon?
Yes, child seats and boosters are available on request. Give the children's ages when booking and the seats are fitted before pickup, so the drive through the Arve and Giffre valleys to Morillon is safe for little ones.
Can I bring my dog on the transfer to Morillon?
Pets can often travel to Morillon, but please ask at booking so we can confirm and prepare the vehicle. Mention the size of the animal and whether it travels in a crate.
Is the Morillon transfer suitable for passengers with reduced mobility?
Please ask at booking and describe your needs, such as a folding wheelchair or help getting in and out of the car. The chauffeur assists with luggage and drops you at the door of your Morillon accommodation.
Can I bring a bike or oversized luggage to Morillon?
Yes, if declared at booking. Mountain bikes for summer in the Giffre valley, golf bags or other bulky items need the right vehicle, usually a van, so tell us the number and size of items in advance.
