The route from Geneva to Grenoble Airport

Your chauffeur leaves Switzerland at the Bardonnex border crossing and takes the A41 motorway south through Haute-Savoie, past Annecy and on to Chambéry. From there the route continues west towards Lyon before turning off for Voiron and the airport, which sits on the plain of the Bièvre rather than in Grenoble itself. The drive takes around 1 h 50 for 174 km, almost entirely on motorway, with views of the Bauges and Chartreuse massifs along the way.

Arriving at the airport

The terminal is small and easy to navigate, and the drop-off area is right in front of the departures hall. On peak winter weekends the access road and car parks fill up, so being dropped off by a private car saves a lot of time compared with returning a rental car. Practical advice

Winter is the busy season here, so a little planning pays off.

• Declare skis and snowboard bags when booking so we send a vehicle with enough space; the Mercedes V-Class takes up to 7 passengers.
• For larger ski groups, a Mercedes Sprinter minibus can be arranged.
• The route crosses the French border, so keep passports or identity cards to hand for all passengers.
