A transfer to a private clinic should be calm, punctual and discreet, with a driver who understands that the passenger may be anxious, in pain or recovering from treatment. Most clinics around Geneva and Lake Geneva are within an hour or so of the airport, Lausanne being 61 km away and Montreux 91 km. AirportsTransfers.ch provides door-to-door transfers designed around the needs of patients and the people who accompany them.
- Driving style: smooth, unhurried and adapted to the passenger
- Assistance: help with luggage and getting in and out of the vehicle
- Discretion: no discussion of passengers, clinics or treatments
- Flexibility: timings adjusted to admissions, discharges and appointments
- Vehicles: spacious sedans and vans for companions and luggage
What patients need from a transfer
Someone travelling to a clinic for treatment, or leaving after a procedure, has different needs from a business traveller. Comfort comes first: a quiet cabin, a smooth ride without sudden braking, and the possibility of stopping if the passenger feels unwell. Time matters too, in both directions: arriving early enough for admission without rushing, and leaving the clinic when the patient is ready rather than at a fixed minute. The driver's manner is important, calm, courteous and attentive without being intrusive.
Before booking, it helps to tell us the general situation, without medical details: whether the passenger has limited mobility, needs to sit in a particular position, uses crutches or a folding wheelchair, or will be accompanied by family members or a carer.
Companions and family members
Patients rarely travel alone. Spouses, parents, children or a personal assistant often accompany them, sometimes with more luggage than for a short trip. A Mercedes V-Class seats up to 7 passengers with room for 10 bags, allowing a family to travel together. For a patient and one companion, the Mercedes S-Class or E-Class offers a quieter, more private cabin. Companions also need transport during the stay, between hotel and clinic or for errands in town, and separate bookings or a chauffeur by the hour can be arranged.
- Family groups: a van keeps everyone together
- Child seats: available on request for young children
- Hotel transfers: daily trips for companions during the stay
- Airport runs: separate pick-ups for relatives arriving later
Mobility support
Our chauffeurs help passengers with reduced mobility to get in and out of the vehicle, carry luggage and fold and stow a folding wheelchair. The higher seating of the V-Class can be easier for some passengers, while others prefer a sedan. Please note that our vehicles are passenger cars, not medical transport: they are not equipped for stretchers or for passengers who must remain in a wheelchair during the journey, and our chauffeurs are not medical staff. For these needs, the clinic can arrange appropriate medical transport.
For admissions, it often helps to plan the airport arrival and the clinic check-in as one journey: the chauffeur meets you at arrivals, drives directly to the clinic and helps carry luggage to reception, so that you do not need to stop at a hotel first. For discharges, a short message when the doctor confirms the time is enough for the driver to be at the entrance when you come out.
Some patients prefer to recover for a few days in a lakeside hotel before flying home. In that case, the transfer can go from the clinic to the hotel, and a separate booking later takes you to Geneva Airport at a pace that suits you.
Gentle driving and the route
Our chauffeurs adapt their driving to the passenger: smooth acceleration, careful cornering and avoiding rough stretches where possible. On longer journeys, for example to a clinic in the mountains or in another canton, short breaks can be planned. The air conditioning, temperature and music are set to the passenger's preference, and silence is respected if the passenger wishes to rest. When the patient is collected from the clinic, the driver can wait at the entrance and help with belongings.
Discretion
Clinics around Geneva and Lake Geneva often welcome well-known patients, and many travellers simply value privacy. Our chauffeurs do not discuss passengers, destinations or reasons for travel, and an unmarked vehicle draws no attention on arrival. The name sign at the airport can carry a first name, an initial or a company name if you prefer. Invoices can be issued to a company or family office.
