Strasbourg Airport
Strasbourg Airport is 375 km from Geneva Airport by road, a drive of about three hours and fifty minutes north through Switzerland and then up the Alsace plain. The two cities share a strong international role, Geneva with the United Nations and Strasbourg with European institutions, and AirportsTransfers.ch links their airports for delegates, business travellers and families who need a direct, door-to-door connection.

Why connect Geneva and Strasbourg airports?
Strasbourg is home to the European Parliament's official seat, the Council of Europe and the European Court of Human Rights, while Geneva hosts the European headquarters of the United Nations and dozens of international organisations. Delegates, lawyers, journalists and NGO staff therefore travel between the two regularly. Strasbourg's airport at Entzheim offers a mix of French domestic and European routes, and travellers sometimes find that a flight from one city is more convenient than from the other. Open-jaw trips are also common: arriving in Geneva for a conference, then travelling north through Alsace's wine villages before flying out of Strasbourg. A diverted or cancelled flight can make a road transfer the fastest solution. Strasbourg itself rewards an extra day: its Gothic cathedral, the half-timbered houses and canals of Petite France, and the Alsatian table with its winstubs and regional wines make it far more than a stop on the way to an airport.
The route north via Basel
From Geneva Airport the car follows the motorway along Lake Geneva and across the plateau via Bern towards Basel, where the route crosses the border into France. From there it is a fast motorway journey north through the Alsace plain, with the Vosges mountains to the west and the Rhine and the Black Forest to the east, past Mulhouse and Colmar, before reaching Entzheim on the south-western side of Strasbourg. The airport is reached before you enter the city, which saves time at rush hour. The busiest sections are the Bern area and the approaches to Basel and Mulhouse at peak times; roadworks on the Swiss network can also add a few minutes in summer.
Train or private car?
By rail, the trip from Geneva Airport to Strasbourg usually involves a change, often in Basel, before reaching Strasbourg's main station. From there, a regional train serves the airport's own small station at Entzheim. For a light traveller who knows the system, that works, though it means several platforms and connections. When you are carrying luggage or documents, travelling as a delegation, with children or on a schedule that depends on a session time or a departure slot, a private car is simpler: one vehicle from arrivals at Geneva to the terminal in Strasbourg, or to the European quarter if that is your destination. During the journey you can work or prepare meetings in privacy.
What your transfer includes
The chauffeur tracks your flight, greets you in Geneva's arrivals hall with a name sign and waits at no extra cost if you land late. Vehicles are Mercedes throughout: E-Class for up to three passengers and three bags, S-Class for executive and official travel, V-Class for up to seven passengers and ten bags, and Sprinter for larger delegations. Child seats are fitted on request. Organisations can receive an invoice, and stops on the way, for example in Basel or Colmar, can be scheduled in advance.
Timing your Strasbourg flight
Add the driving time, a margin of around thirty to forty-five minutes for traffic and your airline's check-in requirements; for European flights, arriving ninety minutes to two hours before departure is a sensible target. During plenary weeks of the European Parliament, the Strasbourg area is busier than usual, with hotels and roads under pressure, so allow a little more time. In winter, the Alsace plain is generally mild, but fog can occasionally slow traffic. If your inbound flight to Geneva is delayed, call us so the plan can be adjusted.
