Nyon
Nyon is about 25 km from Geneva Airport, roughly 25 minutes by motorway along the north shore of Lake Geneva. Trains on the lakeside line make the trip easy, sometimes directly and sometimes with a change at Cornavin, while a private transfer with AirportsTransfers.ch suits travellers with luggage, families, business visitors with appointments and anyone landing late.

Nyon in brief
Nyon is the main town of the La Côte region in Vaud. It was founded by the Romans, and remains of the Roman town can still be seen, with a museum dedicated to that period. Its white-towered castle overlooks the lake and houses a museum, and the lower town has a promenade, a harbour and boat services across and along the lake. Nyon is also home to UEFA, the governing body of European football, and to a number of international companies, which means a steady flow of business travellers. A narrow-gauge railway climbs from Nyon into the Jura towards Saint-Cergue, and in summer the town hosts a large open-air music festival nearby.
Travelling by train
Nyon station lies on the main line along the north shore between Geneva and Lausanne, and it is one of the busier stops on that line. Depending on the connection, you may find a train from the airport that stops in Nyon, or you may need to change at Geneva Cornavin. Either way, the journey is short, frequent and comfortable during the day. If you are staying in the town centre with light luggage, this is an easy, inexpensive option and the train is genuinely the sensible choice.
The station sits above the old town and the lake, and some hotels, offices and residential areas are a fair walk or a bus ride away, particularly those on the edges of town or in the surrounding villages.
Door to door by car
By road the motorway runs above the lake, and the 25 km trip takes about 25 minutes in normal traffic. Your chauffeur drops you at the address you give: a hotel on the lakefront, an office park, a house in one of the villages such as Prangins, Eysins or Trélex, or a sports venue. A Mercedes E-Class takes three passengers and three bags, and a Mercedes V-Class takes up to seven passengers and ten bags. Child seats are available on request.
Business visitors often value arriving straight at the meeting, especially after a long-haul flight. A Mercedes S-Class First Class sedan offers a quiet space to prepare, and companies can request invoices.
Nyon is also a starting point for trips into the Jura. If you are heading on to a chalet or a cross-country skiing base in the hills above the town, the chauffeur can continue directly rather than leaving you to connect with the mountain railway at Nyon station. Declare skis at booking so a suitable vehicle is assigned, and allow for winter conditions on the higher roads.
Delegations, teams and groups
Sports federations and international firms in and around Nyon receive visiting delegations, teams and guests, often arriving together on the same flight. A Mercedes Sprinter minibus collects a whole group with its luggage and delivers it to a hotel or venue, and the fixed price per vehicle keeps budgeting simple. For a full day of meetings in Nyon, Geneva and Lausanne, a chauffeur by the hour, with a minimum of two hours, keeps the car at your disposal between appointments.
Rush hour and unsocial hours
The motorway between Geneva and Lausanne carries heavy commuter traffic on weekday mornings and evenings, so allow extra time for transfers at those times, especially on the way to the airport. Late at night, trains along the lake run less frequently, and a car avoids a wait at Cornavin. Your chauffeur tracks your flight and waits if it is delayed, at no extra cost. For early departures, a pick-up at home in Nyon beats making a connection before the first trains.
For a solo traveller with a backpack heading to the town centre at midday, the train remains an excellent choice. The transfer makes the difference with luggage, groups, specific addresses outside the centre and flights outside normal hours.
