Gressoney-La-Trinité

Gressoney-La-Trinité sits at the head of the Lys valley in the Aosta Valley, at the foot of Monte Rosa, and is a key base of the Monterosa Ski area linking Champoluc and Alagna. Its Walser wooden houses and wide views attract skiers, freeriders and summer hikers. A private car is the simplest way to reach this remote valley from Geneva.

Chauffeur's tipLifts for the Monterosa Ski area leave from Stafal, above the village: tell us if you are staying there so the chauffeur drives on to the upper valley.

The route from Geneva Airport

Your chauffeur heads into France on the A40, then through the Mont Blanc Tunnel to Courmayeur, or alternatively via Martigny and the Great St Bernard Tunnel. Both routes join the A5 motorway down the Aosta Valley. At Pont-Saint-Martin, the car leaves the motorway and climbs the long Lys valley, through Gressoney-Saint-Jean, to Gressoney-La-Trinité. Allow just under three hours in normal conditions.

Arriving in Gressoney-La-Trinité

The village is small and traditional, with stone and timber Walser houses, and the hamlet of Stafal further up the valley is the main lift base for the Monterosa Ski area. From there, lifts connect towards Champoluc in the Ayas valley and Alagna in Valsesia, with plenty of off-piste terrain for experienced skiers. Your driver takes you to the door of your hotel or apartment. With AirportsTransfers.ch you can also book your return or a transfer to another Monte Rosa valley.

Practical advice

The Lys valley road is long and winding, and snow can fall heavily in mid-winter, so let your chauffeur adjust the timing. A Mercedes V-Class van seats up to 7 passengers with 10 bags and skis; groups can travel together in a Sprinter minibus. Declare skis, freeride gear and any child seats at booking. The route crosses the borders into France and Italy, so keep your documents with you. Flight tracking means waiting time is included if your plane is late.
